On my recent trip overseas, I found myself growing frustrated with a few of my fellow models, especially with the younger ones, because there were moments where I was convinced I was back in high school. Never mind the excessive partying and questionable morals. What drove me up the wall were their egos.

An inflated ego is incredibly common with new faces or models who’ve only recently started to find success in the industry. To be fair, those first weeks or months can be a very exciting time, but excitement and ego are worlds apart. Whether it comes from booking high-profile editorials, campaigns, or making buckets of money from shooting catalogues, they start to think they’ve “made it.”

In the 80s and 90s, most models were "just" models.
